Center for Døve (the Center for the Deaf) is the largest provider in Denmark of services for deaf, hearing impaired (including CI-users) and deafblind people.
The Center’s nationwide services include:
All services build on respect and understanding of the language and culture of deaf and deafblind people.
The staff has a high level of competence in sign language as well as specialist knowledge about the specific conditions that deaf and deafblind people are living under.
600 employeesThe history of Center for Døve traces back to 1869. Today, Center for Døve has about 600 employees.
Interpreting and consultancy services are based at offices in Aalborg, Aarhus, Fredericia, Odense, and Copenhagen.
Non-profit foundationCenter for Døve is a non-profit foundation. Any profit that the Center makes is channeled back into operation of existing services and development of new ones.
Communication has the highest priority in all services. Most of the clients use sign language – in one form or the other - but all need have alternative communication needs. All communication needs must be and will be met at Center for Døve.
