A short introduction to CFD

CFD is the largest provider in Denmark of services for deaf, hearing impaired (including CI-users) and deafblind people.

Communication has the highest priority in all services.

Most of CFD's clients use sign language – in one form or the other - but all individual communication needs are met at CFD.

Nationwide services

CFD’s nationwide services include:

• Residential services for deaf and deafblind people with additional impairments
• Occupational services for deaf and deafblind people with additional impairments
• Sign language interpreting services for deaf and deafblind people
• Mental health services for deaf and deafblind people
• Consultancy services for deaf and deafblind people

All services build on respect and understanding of the language and culture of deaf and deafblind people.

The staff has a high level of competence in sign language as well as specialist knowledge about the specific conditions that deaf and deafblind people are living under.

600 employees in a non-profit foundation

The history of CFD traces back to 1869. Today, CFD has about 600 employees.

Interpreting and consultancy services are based at offices in Aalborg, Aarhus, Fredericia, Odense, and Copenhagen.
 
The Center’s social services are in Nyborg, Nærum, Glostrup and Gladsaxe, where also the organisation’s headquarter is located.

CFD is a non-profit foundation. Any profit the organisation makes is channeled back into operation of existing services and development of new ones.
